The PHS girls' track team captures the Mid Continent League title

The Phillipsburg High School track teams competed in the Mid Continent League Track Meet at Hill City on Thursday, May 13.

The girls track team finished the day by capturing the league title. The top six placers in each event earned points.

100M – senior Ava Schemper 1st with a time of 12.97, sophomore Taryn Sides 5th with a time of 13.63

200M – senior Ava Schemper 1st with a time of 27.27, sophomore Trinitti Gross 5th with a time of 28.77

400M – sophomore Heather Schemper 1st with a time of 1:00.03, junior Abby Babcock 2nd with a time of 1:01.8, sophomore Taryn Sides 3rd with a time of 1:02.15

800M – sophomore Heather Schemper 1st with a time of 2:26.01

100M Hurdles – junior Madysen Boydston 4th with a time of 17.85

300M Hurdles – junior Emma Hunnacutt 3rd with a time of 53.60

4x100M Relay – 1st with a time of 50.76 (Sides, H. Schemper, Babcock, A. Schemper)

4x400M Relay – 1st with a time of 4:08.73 (Babcock, A. Schemper, Sides, H. Schemper)

High Jump – junior Abby Babcock 5th with a jump of 4’10”

Pole Vault – freshman Caydence Corman 5th with a vault of 8’0”, senior Meg Keeten 6th with a vault of 8’0”

The Panther boys’ track team finished in ninth place. Individual placers for the boys’ team included:

400M - senior Nick Schemper 4th with a time of 54.4

800M - freshman Rhett Shelton 6th with a time of 2:12.48

4x100M Relay - 6th with a time of 47.43 (Russell, Hanchett, Minkler, Howell)

4x400M Relay - 6th with a time of 3:46.21 (Shelton, Ford, Keeten, Schemper)

Pole Vault – senior Kagan Keeten 2nd with a vault of 13’0”

Discus - freshman Trace Hanchett 2nd with a throw of 122’7”

Javelin - freshman Trace Hanchett 2nd with a throw of 172’1”

The track teams will participate in the 3A regional meet at Beloit on Friday, May 21.
