Phillipsburg High School cross country finds success this season

On Thursday, September 23, Phillipsburg cross-country team participated in a meet in Belleville. The team placed fourth overall; the individual results from the 5,000 meters varsity boys are as follows: freshman Jaidon Allen came in ninth place with a time of 18:58, freshman Ethan Knowles came in 22 place with a time of 20:49 seconds, senior Eric Moon came in 26 place with a time of 21:08 seconds, freshman Nathan Fischer came in 37 place with a time of 22:21 second, and sophomore Adam Mascarenas came in 43 place with a time of 25:04 seconds. The 5,000 meters junior varsity girls’ individual placings are as follows: freshman Elli Velardes came in first place with a time of 23:12 seconds, freshman Hallie Jerby came in fourth place with a time of 29:50 seconds and freshman Hannah Walker came in sixth place with a time of 31:47 seconds.

The two miles middle school girls’ individual placings are as follows: seventh grader Jazlynn Jerby placed 28 with a time of 19:03 seconds. The two miles middle school boys individual placings are as follows: eighth grader Colton Ewing came in 24 place with a time of 15:58 seconds and seventh grader Johnathan Eakin came in 42 place with a time of 23:30 seconds.

On Friday, September 17, Phillipsburg cross-country team participated in a meet in Smith Center. The team placed first overall. The individual result from the girls 1 mile run for seventh grade girls are as follows: Jazlynn Jerby came in eight place with a time of 8:46 seconds. In the seventh-grade boys one miles run Johnathan Eakin placed fifth with a time of 13:12 seconds. Colton Ewing placed third with a time of 16:37 seconds in the eighth-grade boy’s two-mile run.

At the high school level, for the girls 5K JV run results are as follows: freshman Elli Velardes placed first with a time of 24:17 seconds, and freshman Hannah Walker placed third with a time of 31:17 seconds. Boys 5K varsity run individual results are as follows: Sam Pinkerton placed second with a time of 18:51 seconds, Jaidon Allen placed fourth with a time of 19:42 seconds, Ethan Knowles placed 12 with a time of 21:24 seconds, Eric Moon placed 18 with a time of 23:22 seconds, and Adam Mascarenas came in 20 place with a time of 23:51 seconds.

On Thursday, September 9, Phillipsburg cross-country team participated in a meet in Stockton. The team placed first with a score of 24; the individual results for the eight grade 2 mile run are as follows: Colton Ewing came in sixth place with a time of 16:34 seconds.

The individual results for the boy’s varsity are as follows: senior Sam Pinkerton came in first with a time of 18:57 seconds, freshman Jaidon Aleen came in fifth place with a time of 20:50 seconds, freshman Ethan Knowles came in 13 place with a time of 22:50 seconds, senior Eric Moon came in 14 place with a time of 23:12 seconds, freshman Nathan Fischer came in 21 place with a time of 24:32 seconds, and sophomore Adam Mascarenas came in 25 place with a time of 25:48 seconds. The JV mixed 5K girls’ individual results are as follows: freshman Elli Velardes came in second place with a time of 25:44 seconds, freshman Hallie Jerby came in third place with a time of 31:54 seconds, and freshman Hannah Walker came in fifth place with a time of 34:22 seconds.

Cross country will host MCL meet on Thursday, Oct. 7.
