Panthers qualify eight for state

On Saturday Feb. 17, the Panther boys wrestling team competed at Norton in the 3-2-1A Regionals. The Panthers secured third place with 145 points, falling just short of Norton with 150 points. The Regional Championship went to Hoxie with 197 points.

The Panthers ended up qualifying eight wrestlers to go to the state tournament in Salina at the Tony’s Pizza Event Center on Thursday, Feb. 22-Saturday, Feb. 24..

Head Coach Andy Kenney received the honor of being selected as this year's regional Wrestling Coach of the Year.

Individual results were as follows;

106 - Adam Mascarenas - Did not place and went 0-2

113 - Brady Russom - Did not place and went 0-2

120 - Patrick Driggs - Placed 3rd, qualifying him for state, and went 4-1

126 - Kaden Sisson - Placed 2nd, qualifying him for state, and went 3-1

132 - Hunter Sisson - Placed 4th, qualifying him for state, and went 2-2

138 - Blake Buresh - Placed 2nd, qualifying him for state, and went 3-1

144 - Seth Keeten - Placed 3rd, qualifying him for state, and went 4-1

150 - Cole Keeten - Placed 2nd, qualifying him for state, and went 3-1

157 - Colton Dougherty - Did not place and went 1-2

165 - Kayden Hudson - Placed 2nd, qualifying him for state, and went 2-2

175 - Carsen Meitl - Placed 4th, qualifying him for state, and went 3-2

190 - Blayze Christy - Did not place and went 0-2

285 - Jaden Boyle - Did not place and went 1-2
