at our next exhibit Sonic Sensation. In an exciting hands-on manner, Sonic Sensation
presents a fun and informative opportunity to explore sound in our environment. Learn
about the anatomy and physics of how we hear, find out about decibels, amplitude,
frequency, pitch, sound waves, and what you can do to protect your hearing. Learn how
you hear and discover how well you can listen. Sonic Sensation opens Friday, May 31 st
and remains on view through July 28 th . Coming to the Hansen Museum from Ithaca,
New York, Sonic Sensation was developed and curated by the Sciencenter.
K-State Research and Extension Family and Community Wellness Agent, Cindy
Walker, has put out the first “Story Walk” of the summer around the Hansen Museum’s
beautiful lawn. Available for your reading pleasure is The Good Egg written by Jory
John and illustrated by Pete Oswald.
In this Level One I Can Read book The Good Egg discovers that being supportive to
others is not only helpful and kind, but also makes things happen. Reinforcing the
concept that being yourself is always best, this fun story helps children find confidence
in their abilities. As a beginner reading book, it is perfect for children learning to sound
out words and sentences. The short sentences, familiar words, and simple concepts
support success for children eager to read on their own. Each family taking part in the
Story Walk can take home a hard copy of the book while supplies last. Be sure to come
inside the Museum (during business hours) to get your free book.
Coming up June 8 & 9 is Mixed Media class with Sandy Seamone. This beginner

Each day, instructor Sandy Seamone will guide participants step-by-step in completing
a lovely painting. Saturday’s class will paint “Poppies” and Sunday’s class “Big Tree
Path.” Come paint one or both days! Registration information is available on line at
www. Hansenmuseum.org under the classes and workshops tab or for more information
