Phillipsburg Tennis Teams Hits the Ground Running

The Phillipsburg High School tennis season is in full swing with both the varsity and junior varsity seeing time on the court.

On Sept. 3, the varsity hosted a home meet where the team finished in fifth place.

Individual placers were:

#1 Singles: sophomore Valorie Solida, 3rd

#1 Doubles: seniors Hannah Kennedy and Ryann Moffatt, 5th

#2 Singles: senior Katrina Russell, 6th

#2 Doubles: sophomore Azariah Christy and senior Cailyn FitzPatrick, 3rd

On the same date, the junior varsity team traveled to Hoisington for a meet where the team finished in third place.

Individual placers were:

#1 Singles: freshman Kinsey Archer, 3rd

#1 Doubles: freshmen Aerianna Gruber and Emmalynn Brown, 3rd

#2 Singles: freshman Hannah Umbarger, 3rd

#2 Doubles: freshmen Jocelynn Leanna and Jacalynn Craig, 3rd.

The junior varsity also competed at a home meet on Sept. 5 in which the team finished second.

Individual placers were:

#1 Singles: sophomore Miley Moffatt, 5th

#1 Doubles: senior Katrina Russell and junior Kadence Grote, 1st

#1 Doubles: (filling in for Victoria) freshmen Aerianna Gruber and Kinsey Archer, 4th

#2 Singles: sophomore Savannah Bretton, 4th

#2 Doubles: senior Amaya Michael and sophomore Lydia Walker, 1st
