Panthers finish third in MCL tournament

The Panthers hosted the MCL tournament on Saturday Oct. 12 with eight teams in attendance. The Panthers went in as the #2 seed in the tournament and shared a pool with Hoxie, TMP and Smith Center.

In their first game against Smith Center, the Panthers took the first set 25-10; in the second set the score was 25-22. Against Smith Center the team had a 98% serving and 25 kills.

The Panther’s second game was against Hoxie and the Panthers won in two sets, 25-19 and 25-16. The Panthers had 30 digs and 17 kills as a team.

The Panthers final game in the pool was against TMP. The team ended up losing to TMP in three sets. The first set ended 25-20, the second set ended 20-25, and the final set ended 19-25. As a team they had 86 digs and 34 kills against TMP.

The Panthers finished second in their pool and played the first seeded team from the other pool. The Panthers took on Norton where they lost in two sets, 23-25 and 21-25.

For the Panthers last game, they took on Russell for third and fourth. The Panthers won against the Broncos in two sets, 25-15 and 25-20 giving them the third place title.

The Panthers will move on to regional quad play on Monday Oct. 21 at Colby High School where they will face Oakley, Syracuse and Trego for a chance to move on to the sub-state tournament.
