After participating in the High School Basketball Jamboree in Phillipsburg on Tuesday, Nov., the Logan-Palco Trojans opened their season at Grainfield on Friday, Dec. 1 versus Wheatland-Grinnell.
The Lady Thunderhawks played very efficiently and hit the boards hard, which boosted them above the Trojan competitors winning 25-10 in two quarters of JV play and 56-29 in the varsity contest. Post players Mara Kats and Lylah Voss scored 10 and 8 points respectively. Senior Ansley Delimont added 8 rebounds.
In 3 quarters of JV boys action, sophomore Case Ashmore scored 11 points, and freshman Taden Gottschalk added 9 in the 28-39 loss. The varsity boys quickly turned things around as they jumped to the early lead and didn't look back, winning 68-17. Junior Rhett Kats found the bucket early to score 20 points and 7 rebounds, with Case Ashmore adding 14 points.
The Trojans will participate in the Castle Rock Tournament in Quinter with the girls taking on Wheatland-Grinnell again at 6 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and the boys playing Western Plains-Healy at 7:30.
