Phillipsburg FFA Competes at Colby

On Wednesday, April 8, the Phillipsburg FFA Chapter traveled to Colby to compete in Nursery Landscape, Floriculture, Agronomy, and Horse Judging. During the Nursery Landscape, Floriculture, and Agronomy contest, competitors must identify plants, insects, tools, and diseases and complete tests and participatory exercises. During the Nursery Landscape and Floriculture contest, there were thirty IDs in each contest. The Agronomy consisted of one hundred ID. All competitors competed in the senior division for Nursery Landscape, and Floriculture then competed in Agronomy as Greenhands and Seniors separately.

The horse judging competition consisted of each competitor evaluating different classes of horse and placing them from best horse to worst horse. After the judging was done, competitors presented sets of oral reasoning on 2 classes of horses. These reasons consisted of the competitor explaining to judges why they placed the class in the order they did.

Here are the results of the Phillipsburg team in all contests:

Nursery Landscape(All competed in one division)

Mady Runyon- 1st place

Overall the team placed 3rd and took home a plaque

Floriculture(All competed in one division)

Mady Runyon- 10th place

Overall the team placed 6th

Agronomy(Competed in greenhand and senior division)

Greenhand Kinley Krafft- 6th place

Overall the Greenhand team placed 3rd and took home a plaque. The senior team had many close placers.
