Panthers Drop Close Contest with TMP
The TMP varsity football game in Hays on Friday, Sept. 19, started at 9pm due to a lightning delay.
Once the game was underway, the Panthers started off strong with their play broken bone to the right as quarterback Colin Springer led the line to the endzone.
This touchdown tied the Monarchs at seven within the first half after kicker Zane Shields sealed the extra point.
At half time, the Panthers were down by three pushing the Monarchs further from the endzone, making the Monarchs kick for three early in the third quarter.
Later in the third quarter, defender senior Braxtyn Shields pushed through the Monarchs offense obtaining a quarterback sack, as the Panthers' defensive line blocked TMP’s punt attempt. Fullback senior Blake Buresh gained double yards in the third quarter and tied the game with a five yard touchdown.
Unfortunately, the Panthers would be denied on the final play to end the game 19-20.
Buresh attained 100 yards rushing out of the team’s 232 rushing yards.
