Panthers rally to knock off undefeated Broncos

The Varsity Football team played against the undefeated Rusell Broncos on Friday, Oct. 3.

The team started off strong with fullback senior Blake Buresh gaining a 20-yard touchdown, and kicker junior Zane Shields clearing the extra point, tying with the Broncos in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, a handoff to running back senior Tanner Horinek gained the team a 66-yard touchdown. The Broncos, however, tied the game at the end of the second half with a 14-yard touchdown.

In the third quarter, Buresh gained a 6-yard touchdown off of a pass from quarterback senior Colin Springer, getting ahead of the Broncos 21-14 at the end of the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Broncos scored two touchdowns, pulling ahead of the Panthers at the start of the quarter.

The Panthers passed to Horinek for a 37-yard touchdown, which put them behind by one. The coaches decided to go for a two-point conversion where Springer drove it into the endzone gaining the two points.

The Panthers won the game 29-28 with 50 plays and 292 rushing yards.
