On Thursday, Feb. 26, Phillipsburg FFA traveled to Smith Center to compete in the Job Interview CDE (Career Development Event).

Phillipsburg's team consisted of Madi Johnson, Mady Runyon, Kalinda Meili, Aden Shaw, Lydia Walker and Kinley Krafft.

The FFA Job Interview Contest is a Career Development Event that helps members prepare for real-world job opportunities. Participants created a professional résumé, completed a job application, and went through a mock interview with judges acting as employers.

The contest emphasized communication skills, professionalism, confidence and the ability to effectively convey experiences and qualifications. Through this event, members gained experience in interviewing, public speaking and presenting themselves in a professional manner.

These skills are essential for future careers in agriculture and beyond. In the Northwest district contests, members must be ranked first or second in their interview room to advance to the finals round.

The final round consisted of twelve members. All twelve members are then interviewed in front of three judges; the top ten are then awarded medals. First and second place advance to the state level.

Here are the results from the Phillipsburg team.

Madi Johnson- 1st place and qualified for state

Mady Runyon- Advanced to finals. 11th place

Kalinda Meili- Competitor

Aden Shaw- Competitor

Lydia Walker- Competitor

Overall, the Phillipsburg FFA team placed 2nd as a team. Congratulations and good job to all who competed.
