Phillipsburg High School Publications Dept. Captures Regional Title

The Phillipsburg Publications Department competed in the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA) Regional competition on Jan. 28. With 52 entries submitted, the Panthers secured first place in the regional with 183 points.

As a group, the staff earned 10 first place finishes, 6 second place finishes, 13 third places, 7 fourths, 7 fifths and 6 sixth place finishes. They outscored the nearest competition by 52 points. Each member who competed placed in at least one event, while several members placed in all of their events.

Those who finished in the top six will move on to the state competition on March 25.

“I’m very proud of these students. We have a lot of new publication staff members who were competing for the first time, so to have that many place is fantastic,” Advisor Robin Sides said.
