Phillipsburg Tennis wrapping up regular season and preparing for regionals

The tennis team has been staying busy. The team traveled to Concordia on Thursday, Sept. 25 to compete in a seven team bracket.

The team ended short of one point against Osborne, which led to Phillipsburg placing second. Individual results: #1 singles Valorie Solida finished in first place taking home gold. #1 doubles Azariah Christy and Lydia Walker earned second taking home silver. #2 singles Emmalynn Brown earned a seventh place finish. #2 doubles Miley Moffatt and Kadence Grote ended shy of a medal finishing in fourth place.

The JV team hosted their own six team pool play on Saturday, Sept. 27 at home. The team came in second place, losing to Colby by win percentage.

Individual results include:

#1 singles Aerianna Gruber – 1st place

#1 doubles Jocelyn Leanna & Hannah Umbarger – 1st place

#2 singles Alivia Hopson – 2nd place

#2 doubles Paige Ehm & Savannah Bretton – 2nd place

The varsity tennis team also attended a meet on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Wakenney. The team battled hard finishing in second place. #1 singles Valorie Solida ended in second place with #2 singles Gabby Poels taking the lead finishing in first earning a gold medal. #1 doubles Azariah Christy and Lydia Walker fought hard earning them a seventh place finish. After battling the first two matches #2 doubles Miley Moffatt and Kadence Grote finished the day with placing intentions.

Varsity traveled to Lindsborg to compete against teams from all around. Singles Gabby Poels went 3-1 on the day earning 2nd place and taking home silver. Singles Valorie Solida also went 3-1 on the day ending in 5th place. Doubles team Miley Moffatt & Kadence Grote went 1-3 finishing in 8th. Doubles team Caydence Ewing & Hannah Umbarger went 1-3 for the day as well, which earned them 14th place.
