Phillipsburg Junior High Boys' Basketball Opens Season With Two Wins
Phillipsburg Junior High began their basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Smith Center.
The boys’ B-team began the night with a win, outscoring Smith Center 24-20. The Panthers jumped out to a dominate lead in the first half 18-2. In the second half, the Redmen fought back to outscore the Panthers 18-6. Leading scorer for the Panthers was Cooper Miller with 12.
The boys’ A-Team finished out the night with a 38-30 win. The Panthers had consistent scoring throughout the game and let the Redmen 17-6 at the half. However, in the second half, the Redmen outscored the Panthers 24-21. Leading scorers for the Panthers were Colten Leidig with 10 and Jack Seems with 9.
The Panthers had little recovery time as they hosted Russell on Thursday, Nov. 6.
B-Team started the night with a close win, 31-30. Miller led the team in scoring with 16.
The C-Team lost a close battle 30-27. Leading the Panthers was Kayne Breon with 10.
In A-Team action, the Panthers dominated Russell with a big first quarter in which the Panthers outscored the Broncos 22-4. The Panthers continued to put up points throughout the game, ultimately defeating the Broncos 49-22. The Panthers had two in double figures, Jack Seems with 16 and Cordell Dusin with 14.
