Phillipsburg Boys' Tennis Opens Season Strong
The Phillipsburg boys' tennis team had a really solid week, playing in three meets and winning two of them.
They started off at Scott City on April 9 and got third as a team with 33 points. Sam Baker and John Rielle got first at #2 doubles and Brady Russom took second at #2 singles. Colton Ewing and William Jessup finished third at #1 doubles, and Cash Roth got fourth at #1 singles.
Then at Hays on April 13, Phillipsburg had a great day and got first as a team with 58 points. The team had three first-place finishes.
Cash Roth won #1 singles, Colton Ewing and William Jessup won #1 doubles, and Brady Russom won #2 singles. All three of them went undefeated. Sam Baker and John Rielle didn’t place as high at #2 doubles, but they still ended with a win.
The next day at Trego, Phillipsburg secured another team win, beating Trego by one point, 17–16.
Roth got first again at #1 singles, and Ewing and Jessup got first at #1 doubles. John Rielle got third at #2 singles, and Sam Baker and Colton Summitt got second at #2 doubles.
Overall, it was a great week for Phillipsburg. They picked up a lot of wins and are starting to come together as a team heading into the rest of the season.
