The Logan School District will bid farewell to three of their faculty members who will be retiring at the end of the school year. A reception was held for them on Friday, May 1 in the school lunchroom.

Kristi Brown is the Title I teacher with 37 years of experience. Beginning her career as a P.E. teacher and coach, Kristi went back to school to earn her degree in special education. In Logan, she worked extensively with students in MTSS reading groups and individualized learning. She also specialized in helping students with dyslexia and organized the bi-annual book fairs.

With 31 years of experience, David Kirkendall began his teaching career in secondary history while coaching football and wrestling. Later, he earned his master's degree and became a school principal where he served in Stafford and Lincoln. His interest in technology also earned him the position as technology director. Coming to Logan in 2016, David planted the seed for the new LIFE Center and helped to bring that dream to fruition for the Logan community.

A graduate of Fort Hays State University, Robin Van Laeys began her career in Logan as a junior high and high school science teacher. In 2003 she earned her master's degree in counseling and became the school counselor. She coached several sports in her early days, but concentrated on high school volleyball, marking 8 trips to the State tournament and winning the championship in 2014. Robin also served as the athletic director.

With over 100 years in education between them, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Kirkendall, and Mrs. Van Laeys will leave some big shoes to fill for next year. We thank them for their service and dedication to USD #326 and wish them well in their future endeavors.
