Phillipsburg’s annual Party in the Park returns on Sunday, June 7, promising a full day of food, family activities, and a brand?new twist designed to bring local businesses into the fun.

Festivities begin at 11 a.m., when food trucks; Center Fire Pizza, Paradise Eats, RC RubGrub, Taco Riendo, & Triple C Lemonade, roll into the Phillipsburg City Park to serve lunch and treats throughout the afternoon. At 1 p.m., the park transforms into a lively tournament zone as teams face off in volleyball, pickleball, and cornhole. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

This year, the Phillipsburg Chamber & Main Street is introducing a new idea: business-sponsored teams. Chamber members are being invited to participate in a friendly competition for community bragging rights.

Teams can either select a local business from the list as their sponsor or businesses can form their own teams. Employees, friends, family members, and community members are all welcome to join in. Businesses that have joined in on the competition are: Farmers State Bank, High Plains Mental Health, J&R HVAC, Kiln'n Time, Kyle Railroad, Luxury Cuts & Colors, Phillips County Health Systems, Whites Foodliner, & Witmer Drug.

“This is something new we’re trying, and we’re excited to see how our members get involved,” said Tami, Director of the Phillipsburg Chamber & Main Street. “It’s a fun way to highlight our businesses and bring even more community spirit to the day.”

In addition to team sponsors, the Chamber is also seeking volunteers to help the event run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to keep score and manage brackets for volleyball, as well as to take one-hour shifts driving the popular NexTech Train. The Chamber is also borrowing a 9-Square grid from Teens For Christ. Yard games and park play will still be available for children.

Registration forms for tournament teams are available in the chamber office and online.

Last year was the first year for Party in the Park and it was a larger event than we had expected, bringing together families, businesses, and volunteers for a day of connection and celebration. With new ideas and strong community support, we are hoping for this year’s event to be even more memorable.
