Phillipsburg, Kan. (July 27, 2026) – When the gates swing open at Kansas Biggest Rodeo this week in Phillipsburg, some of the biggest names in pro rodeo will be on hand to compete.
Bareback rider Bradlee Miller, ranked first in the PRCA world standings, tie-down roper Riley Webb, the reigning world champion, and Cheyanne McCartney, the top breakaway roper in the Women’s Pro Rodeo Association (WPRA) will compete in Phillipsburg.
McCartney leads the pack of breakaway cowgirls coming to Phillipsburg; of the top fifteen, twelve of them are scheduled to come to town.
McCartney is having one of the best years of her career. The Kingston, Oklahoma cowgirl won $69,500 at the Calgary Stampede this month, jumping her to the number one spot in the standings.
“It definitely was a career win for me,” she said.
She’s solidly at the top with over $124,000 in season winnings so far, but that doesn’t mean she lets her foot off the pedal.
“I really just focus on one run at a time,” she said. “Of course, (the win at Calgary) is very exciting, but there’s a lot of runs to make and a lot of season left, so you don’t want to be getting too excited in July. There’s a lot of rodeos left.”
McCartney will rope on July 31. Her husband Cody, a tie-down roper, will compete in Phillipsburg on August 1.
The ranked breakaway ropers and the day they compete include McCartney (July 31), No. 2 Hali Williams (slack July 29); No. 3 Rylee George (July 30); No. 4 Jordi Edens-Mitchell (slack July 28); No. 6 Taylor Munsell (slack July 29); No. 7. Josie Conner (July 31); No. 9 Sawyer Gilbert (slack July 29); No. 10 Madison Outhier (July 31); No. 11 Danielle Lowman (slack July 28); No. 12. Suzanne Williams (slack July 28); No. 13 Jaci Hammons (slack July 29); No. 15 Bradi Good (August 1).
Last year’s bull riding champion returns to defend his title.
Riley Shippy, Colome, South Dakota, scored 88.5 points on the Beutler and Son bull Fake Friend in 2025 to win the title.
He’s the leading bull rider in the Badlands Circuit, the PRCA’s designation of rodeos in South and North Dakota and is coming off of big wins: a fifth place finish at Cheyenne Frontier Day’s Extreme Bulls, and second at the Mitchell, S.D. rodeo.
Shippy didn’t compete last week, due to a head injury suffered during his dismount in Cheyenne. But he’ll be ready for Phillipsburg.
The 22-year-old loves the buckle he won at last year’s Kansas Biggest Rodeo.
“It was the coolest buckle I won all last year,” he said. “It’s my church-going buckle, my going out to dinner-buckle. It’s my nice buckle. I don’t wear it to work and ranch. I don’t want any scuffs on a buckle like that.”
Fans are reminded that contestants who are entered might not compete in Phillipsburg, due to injury to themselves or their horse, or travel logistics.
The rodeo runs Thursday through Saturday nights, July 30-August 1, in Phillipsburg and starts at 8 pm each night.
Slack is on Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 7 pm both nights.
