Labor Day in Logan: A Celebration to Remember

The 47th Annual Logan Labor Day Celebration was nothing short of spectacular! With picture-perfect weather, the day unfolded into a true community highlight packed with fun, competition, and unforgettable memories.

The sand volleyball courts were buzzing with energy as the action heated up. For the third year in a row, the Gold Diggers dug deep and claimed the championship title. Teammates Sam Jackson, Scott and Val Schultz, Jake and Tiffany Beam, and Kaitlyn Carpenter proved once again why they’re the team to beat. The Loco Gringos gave them a run for their money, taking second place, while Ballz and Dollz rounded out the top three. From start to finish, the volleyball tournament delivered thrills and plenty of good-natured rivalries—just the way Logan likes it.

The car show turned heads with polished chrome, shiny paint jobs, and the rumble of engines echoing across the Logan Golf Course. The Dane G. Bales Jr. Memorial Car Show drew an impressive lineup, and the winners reflected the crowd’s wide-ranging favorites. People’s Choice honorees included everything from Dave and Tiffany Schneider’s classic 1977 Ford High Boy to Bob Jackson’s sleek 1957 Corvette. Entrant’s Choice was claimed by J.R. Haselhorst with his stunning 1956 Plymouth Fury, while the Long-Distance Award went to Don and Mary Remington, who drove all the way from Danbury, Nebraska. Carol’s Choice spotlighted James Minkler’s 1956 F-100, and Rick Roberts not only captured third in Carol’s Choice but also took home D’s Traveling Trophy with his beautiful 1940 Chevy Sedan. Looking ahead, Linda Artz’s Black Ford Fairlane has already been chosen as the feature car for 2026.

Meanwhile, young competitors had their moment to shine during the always-popular pedal pull. Forty-seven determined kids, ages three through twelve, put their muscles to the test for a shot at $5 and the chance to compete at the State Fair in Hutchinson. The competition was fierce, with several age groups so evenly matched that multiple pull-offs were needed. Cheering parents and excited kids made this event a highlight for families.

Throughout the day, kids bounced between inflatables and the mini golf course, while families strolled between attractions, food booths, and games. Laughter and conversation carried across the grounds, creating the kind of atmosphere that makes this celebration a hometown favorite.

As evening rolled in, the crowd gathered for live music by The Innocence, whose incredible talent kept spirits high. Their rendition of Billie Jean inspired two young fans to show off their best Michael Jackson moves, including an impressive moonwalk.

And then, the grand finale: Rainbow Fireworks of Inman, Kansas lit up the night sky with the most dazzling fireworks display Logan has ever seen. Bursts of color reflected the joy of the day, bringing the celebration to a spectacular close.

The Logan Labor Day Celebration is a treasured tradition, and this year proved once again why it’s such a beloved part of our community. Be sure to mark your calendars now for the 48th Annual Celebration on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Logan Golf Course—you won’t want to miss it!
