Panthers Compete at Smith Center XC Meet The Phillipsburg Panthers competed at the Smith Center XC Meet on Thursday, Sept. 17, with runners competing in high school varsity, junior varsity and middle school races.

In the high school varsity race, Kihyna Steelsmith finished 21st with a time of 28:37, earning a season personal record. In the junior varsity race, Valeria Hernandez placed third with a time of 28:07 and earned a medal. Brayden King finished sixth with a time of 26:09, setting both a season personal record and a course personal record.

The eighth-grade runners competed in a two-mile race. Mer Saddler finished third with a time of 27:47, earning a medal and setting a season personal record. Bryson King placed ninth with a time of 25:06.

Phillipsburg also had five runners compete in the seventh-grade one-mile race. Melanie Hernandez placed third with a time of 7:27 and earned a medal. Kymber Steelsmith finished fifth in 6:57 and earned a medal. Shonie Coomes placed sixth with a time of 7:05, while Corbin Ghormley finished eighth in 7:42. Walter Swenson placed ninth with a time of 8:47.

The Panthers continued to build on their season with multiple personal records and medal finishes at the meet.
