Hansen Museum News (6-29-26)
The Hansen Museum is excited to announce that Going Places: The Technology of Transport is now open and ready to welcome visitors! Created by Scitech in Perth, Australia, and produced by Imagine, this exciting hands-on exhibition invites visitors of all ages to explore the remarkable technology behind transportation. Whether you've ever dreamed of flying an airplane, racing a recumbent bicycle, or riding a hovercraft, Going Places offers an interactive experience that is both educational and fun.
As we prepare to celebrate America's 250th birthday this Fourth of July, Going Places provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far our nation has traveled—both literally and figuratively. In just 250 years, transportation has evolved from horseback, wagons, and riverboats to railroads, automobiles, airplanes, and even space travel. Each new innovation has helped connect communities, expand opportunities, and shape the country we know today. This exhibition reminds us that every great journey begins with curiosity, ingenuity, and a willingness to explore new possibilities.
If you're feeling inspired to create something of your own, there are still openings in our upcoming Magic of Painting classes with Certified Bob Ross Instructor Hope Blakely on July 10th and 11th at the Logan Youth Center. Saturday's class will feature Northwest Majesty, a beautiful fall mountain landscape, while Sunday's class will paint Daisy Basket, a charming floral still life. Hope's classes are designed for painters of all skill levels, with step-by-step instruction and all supplies provided. Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush or have years of experience, you'll leave with a finished painting and a sense of accomplishment.
There is also still time to register for the Hansen Museum's annual Art Camp! Young artists will enjoy three exciting days of creativity while exploring a variety of artistic mediums and techniques. Campers will experiment with printmaking and tie-dye, create an acrylic painting, and discover the beauty of watercolor painting under the guidance of talented instructors. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to build confidence, express their creativity, and have fun making art with new friends. To register for Magic of Painting, Art Camp, or any of our upcoming classes, call the Hansen Museum at 785-689-4846 or visit www.hansenmuseum.org and click on the Classes & Camps tab.
