What a delightful time we had at our Christmas Star Bread Class with instructor Anna Schremmer! Anna guided participants through every step of the process—mixing a yeast dough, shaping and filling it, and finally crafting the beautiful cuts that give the bread its signature star design. There was laughter, learning, and the wonderful smell of dough rising as everyone worked. Participants left the Museum with a gorgeous star bread ready for the oven and hearts full of Christmas cheer. It is our best guess that many a Christmas table this year will feature a homemade Christmas Star Bread.

While you’re visiting the Museum, be sure to take in our current exhibition, the Open Call Christmas/Winter Quilt Exhibition, on view through January 25. We have welcomed many visitors and the response has been wonderful. Guests are inspired and often in awe of the talent displayed in the 27 quilts, 17 wall hangings, and 12 table runners crafted by Kansas quilters. The range of techniques, colors, and seasonal themes has made this exhibition a true highlight of the winter season, and many have returned with friends just to share the experience. If you haven’t visited yet, we encourage you to stop in and see the artistry for yourself—these quilts are even more stunning in person.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our next holiday event: Holiday Centerpiece Creations with the Logan High School Plant and Soil Science Class on Thursday, December 18th. This hands-on floral design class is the perfect opportunity to create a beautiful holiday centerpiece for your home or perhaps craft a thoughtful, handmade gift for someone special. There are still spots available—please call today to register!

If you are still searching for the perfect Christmas gift, the Museum has several wonderful options. A Museum membership is a gift that lasts all year long. Depending on the membership level, recipients enjoy discounts on classes and workshops—and best of all, they stay connected to Museum events and activities. If you prefer something a bit more tangible, consider a gift certificate for one of our upcoming classes. In January, we are offering two great opportunities: Winter Dance Class and Magic of Painting. And of course, don’t forget to browse our Artist of the Month showcase. This month, we are featuring the beautiful jewelry of Autumn Leaym from Greenleaf, Kansas. Her pieces are stunning, unique, and incredibly affordable—well worth a stop at the Museum to take a look.
