51st Annual Hansen Arts & Crafts Fair

If you enjoy sunshine and shopping for handcrafted treasures, spend a fun-filled Saturday in northwest Kansas along Highway 9. The town of Logan, home of the beautifully renovated Dane G. Hansen Museum, hosts one of Kansas' premier arts and crafts fairs. Join the festivities on Saturday, August 15, 2026, when more than 55 artisans and crafters from Kansas and surrounding states transform the Hansen Plaza into a shopper's paradise. Admission is free.

The day kicks off with the 5K Run and 2 Mile Fun Walk. Registration and T-shirt pickup begin at 7:00 a.m. at the corner of Douglas and Main Streets. The 5K Run starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 2 Mile Fun Walk at 8:15 a.m. All registration fees will benefit Phillips County Hospice Services. Registration forms are available at hansenmuseum.org/5k-run2-mile-fun-walk/, or call the Museum to sign up.

After the race, cool off in the shade and browse the many vendor booths as the fair officially opens at 9:00 a.m. Food vendors will fill the air with irresistible aromas while serving sweet rolls, hamburgers, bratwursts, turkey and noodles, homemade pies, walking tacos, snow cones, kettle corn, and more. There is something to satisfy every palate. Also beginning at 9:00 a.m., children can enjoy Inflate-o-Fun, featuring giant inflatables.

Live music on two stages will provide entertainment throughout the day. Formerly Three will perform on the south stage at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m., while 80 Proof Alice will perform on the north stage at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Throughout the day, visitors can watch skilled artisans demonstrate their craft around the Plaza. Demonstrations include pottery by Rodney Zimmerman, weaving by Sally Brandon, blacksmithing by Brien Bethke, watercolor painting by Cindy Balthazor, oil painting by David Vollbracht, airbrush face painting by Color Me Crazy Face Painting, and fast-draw shooting by the Deer Creek Regulators.

Be sure to stroll across the street to the Logan Library, where quilter Janie Lowry will present her "Now You See It, Now You Don't" 9-Patch Quilt Demonstration at 10:30 a.m. Then return at 12:30 p.m. to hear miniature quilt artist Elaine Boese share her passion for creating miniature quilts. On the opposite end of the block, Iowa chainsaw artist Blair Smith will amaze spectators with his chainsaw artistry throughout the day. Be sure to stop and watch this talented artist at work. Two of his original sculptures will be given away during drawings at 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

While you're in Logan, take time to step inside the Hansen Museum and explore the galleries. On display is Going Places, an interactive exhibition created by Scitech of Perth, Australia, and produced by Imagine of Atlanta, Georgia. This engaging exhibition is a favorite with visitors of all ages, so don't miss the opportunity to experience it.

While inside the Museum, stop by the membership table to purchase or renew your Hansen Museum membership. Everyone who purchases or renews a membership during the Arts & Crafts Fair will automatically be entered into the Hansen Bucks drawings. A total of $500 in Hansen Bucks, redeemable just like cash with Arts & Crafts Fair vendors, will be awarded during drawings at 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Winners must be present to claim and spend their Hansen Bucks.

The highlight of the day will be the selection of 12 new Artist of the Month winners, along with two alternates. Crafters are judged on originality, quality of craftsmanship, and booth presentation. Winners will be announced at 2:45 p.m., with awards and photographs following the fair's 3:00 p.m. closing.
